Email from the Spartan Race Organizers... 6000 PARTICIPANTS!!!! YIKES!

Hey Spartans,

For those of you in who are not aware, Hobie Call, an extreme endurance athlete is competing in this year's Spartan circuit for $100,000!

So far he has won all five events including SoCal, AZ, TX, FL, and GA. He must win 14 out of the 16 events and win the Spartan Death Race on June 25th to take home his prize.

Spartan Race is offering up a $1,000 bounty for anyone that thinks they can knock him off! Forward this email to anyone you think is bad enough to catch Hobie. The next shot is at our NY Sprint on June 4th.

The Killington event is projecting over 6,000 participants, so let your friends know tickets are selling fast. For those people out there who do not think they can make it through the BEAST, we've added
a 3-mile opt-out.

In this email we've included the VT e-flyer to forward to your friends and we've attached the "Hobie Wanted" poster so you can see what you're up against!

I've been lazy since I signed on to do this, but...

I ran 4 miles yesterday!  It was alright, but I go really slow.  Spin class and rowing tonight.  I plan on trying some paved hills tomorrow.  Upper body strengthening and cross-country running are gonna kill me!

First Run...Not Great

2 slow miles. Side stitches the whole time. The journey begins :(

Booya!

Well it's easy to be excited when I haven't actually run anywhere. Except for the fridge ;) But I AM already scouring the web for cool t-shirt ideas. What should the t-shirt say? What is our team motto? Ideas!?!?!?

But come hell or high water (and probably both) we will be Spartans! I don't have a good training plan but my GOAL is to be able to road run at least 6 miles by the end of May. I figure 6 miles on the road = 4 miles on hilly trails (I have no scientific basis for this math, it's just how it works in my head).

Also thanks for setting this up!

We've decided to do it!

Yay!  This will be super challenging and is really exciting!  We've got a little over 18 weeks to get tough and ready! http://www.spartanrace.com/
